Baht for a Better Life
Your small change could make a big change to someone's life.
The Baht for a Better Life Project was started in 1995 with small change, contributed by guests of Amari hotels and donations from our staff used to further the education of children in Thailand.
Our CSR programme aims to support and provides educational opportunities for underprivileged children in poor areas of Bangkok and rural areas of the country through constructing and renovating local schools, providing essential learning tools and scholarships with opportunities for on-the-job training and employment.
We are currently involved in three key initiatives:
Baht for a Better Life & Raks Thai Foundation (CARE Thailand)
In 2012, our Foundation entered a partnership with Raks Thai Foundation for Baht for a Better Life to support Raks Thai’s "84 Schools in Celebration of H.M. the King’s 84th Birthday" project. This joint project aims to improve children’s leadership, occupational and life skills through children’s learning activities beyond the regular curriculum.
Our Team Members and guests are also regularly involved in volunteering activities such as teacher’s training, learning activities with the children as well as fund raising.Through this project, we currently support the Bang Kra Jao School in Samutsakorn
Amari School Projects
To rebuild and provide classroom furniture and tools to Border Police Schools in rural parts of Thailand. To-date, Amari Watergate Bangkok has helped fund and complete 11 schools in all regions.
As well as building classrooms, donations received have been used to buy essentials such as desks, chairs, blackboards, books and pencils.
12 scholarships are offered each year to children living in Klongtoey - an underprivileged area of Bangkok - who are determined to continue their studies despite the odds against them. The programme also offers on-the-job-training and employment opportunities.
Many of these children aspire to put their knowledge and skills back into the benefit of their community.
The Longest Macadamia Nut Roulade for Charity
On 23 August 2013, we celebrated Henry J. Bean's Bar & Grill 19th anniversary by selling the longest Macadamia nut roulade cake for charity.
Created by our Executive Pastry Chef, Jerome Benda and presided over by Saisom Wongsasuluck, the proceeds from this initiative were donated to the Baht for a Better Life Project in order to support the education less fortunate children living in remote areas of Thailand.
